The Origin Story
Messy Lady Studios is a comedy media brand built around the hilarious, messy, and deeply relatable characters of Honey Creek — a fictional small town where everybody knows your business and nobody minds theirs.
Created by Waletha Garrett, Messy Lady Studios brings the comedy of everyday Black life to life through short-form videos, weekly episodes, and a growing fan community. From workplace drama to church gossip, we find the funny in the familiar.
What started as a creative idea quickly grew into a full-on entertainment studio — complete with recurring characters, an original universe, merchandise, and a community of fans who see themselves (and their coworkers) in every sketch.
Our Mission
To create bold, joyful, unapologetically Black comedy that resonates with adults who live the drama every single day — at work, at church, in the family group chat, and at the checkout line. We believe laughter is community, and community is everything.

Honey Creek is a fictional small town with very real energy. It's the kind of place where Sunday service runs three hours, the breakroom is a crime scene, and your neighbor knows your schedule better than you do.
It's the universe where all our original characters live, work, gossip, and thrive. Honey Creek isn't based on any specific real place — it's based on every place. It's your hometown, your job, your church, your family reunion.
As the studio grows, so does Honey Creek. New characters, new storylines, new seasons — the drama never stops, and neither do we.
